A bit about us….

Ninfield Parish Council is a non-political council.  We are a small team of 9 Councillors and the clerk who is also the Responsible Financial Officer.               

The Parish Council is responsible for The Sports Pavilion, The Recreation Ground including the children’s playground and the two Multi Use Games Areas (MUGA). 

As well as meeting for a bimonthly Full Council Meeting, we have 4 Committees –

the Finance Committee

Sports Pavilion and Recreation Ground Committee

Highways, Safety and Verges Committee

Planning & Environment (we are statutory consultees on all Planning Applications within the Parish – although the decision on approval or refusal is made by Wealden District Council.)    

By becoming a Councillor, you would be able to join in any of the above committees using any skills or experience that you have and work alongside other Councillors.

If you would like to become a Ninfield Parish Councillor here’s what you need to do:

Come and see us at the Methodist Hall Thursday 16th March 18:00 – 18:45 where there will be further information and a supply of the relevant forms available if you wish to stand

FORMS TO COMPLETE:

Complete 3 forms and return in person (not post), to the Wealden District Council Offices in Hailsham by 4th April 2023.

Remember when completing the forms, Ninfield is non-political.

  1. Nomination Paper (1a)

Please complete all questions.

Please ensure nominated ‘Proposer’ and ‘Seconder’ are residents of Ninfield.

  1. Home Address Form (1b)  

Please complete part 1 with your full name and address (as you would a passport application, names in full etc).     

Only complete part 2 if you do not wish your home address to be published.  

  1. Candidate’s consent to nomination (1c)

Please complete all questions, sign and date. Please make sure the date is not before 5th March 2023 (you’ll be surprised how many people get the date wrong)!

PLEASE ENSURE ALL FORMS ARE WITNESSED BY THE SAME PERSON

(Part 2 Certificate of Authorisation & Part 3 Request For Party Emblem  - YOU DO NOT need  to complete these forms as they are for party candidates only)

To be able to stand as a candidate at a Parish Council election you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a British citizen or an eligible Commonwealth citizen
  • Meet at least one of the following:            

    Live in Ninfield or live within 3 miles of Ninfield for the last 12 months, or

    Ninfield is your main or only place of work in during the last 12 months, or

    You are, and will continue to be registered as a local government elector for the parish in which you wish to stand, or

    You have occupied as owner or tenant any land or other premises in the parish during the whole of the 12 months before the day of your nomination and the day of election    

You will need your elector number WDC Elections Team will be happy to provide and confirm electoral numbers for prospective candidates by telephone (01892 602407) from 1 March onwards.                  

Once you have completed all your forms, it is a good idea to have your nomination forms informally checked by the Wealden Returning Officer before you finally submit it. To do this you will need to book an appointment at the Hailsham Offices.

You MUST hand deliver your original (no copies) completed forms to the Returning Officer at Wealden District offices between Monday 27th March 10am & 4pm on Tuesday 4th April 2023

n.b Once your nomination is formally submitted you cannot amend any details. But if you change your mind and no longer want to stand for election, you can withdraw your nomination until 4pm on 4 April 2023.
