PARISH BOUNDARY REVIEW

To move our administrative boundary

from Wealden District Council to Rother District Council.

YOUR VOTE MATTERS PLEASE REPLY BY 14th December 2020.

In recent years Ninfield Parish Council (NPC) have been dissatisfied with the service the village has received from Wealden District Council (WDC). Despite numerous attempts to engage them WDC have repeatedly failed to take account of local opinion. The WDC Planning Department have been especially problematic regarding placement, design and enforcement of conditions placed on the large numbers of new houses they proposed for this village. The Parish Council feels that Ninfield has been treated dismissively and therefore unfairly. This led to Ninfield Parish Council passing a vote of no confidence in the WDC planning department on 5th March 2020.

Most essential services to our village (details on following pages) are provided by Rother District Council (RDC) area services. We believe that a transfer to RDC would better serve the residents of Ninfield so that we have a voice to affect the change in services or join initiatives that affect our village. Geographically we are located in Rother and closer to the towns of Battle and Bexhill than to any Wealden town (see attached map). Therefore, the benefit of moving is becoming part of a district council whose decisions affect our village in all aspects of our daily lives, for example environmentally, rather than just planning.

After detailed discussions NPC have resolved that the village and its residents would be better served by a move of administrative boundaries to Rother District Council. This will require a boundary review which can only be granted by the Secretary of State.

The first step in this democratic process is to ask residents whether they wish to remain with Wealden District Council or move to Rother District Council. A boundary review can only proceed with the support of the residents of Ninfield and the approval of the Secretary of State.
