The Parish Council have been made aware that there were some youths in the woods on Thursday evening. They lit a bonfire in the woods. The person who reported the incident had the foresight to call 999 and ask for the police and fire brigade. A bonfire could have got out of hand very quickly with the weather and everything being so dry. It also endangered the ancient woodland.

The fire service attended quickely despite having just finished a shift the convent fire in Hastings. The fire service made sure that the fire would not re-ignite. Sadly all the mushroom seats made from wood from the woods had been pulled out of the ground and thrown into the pond. The fire brigade kindly retrieved these. The police have been looking at CCTV to see if they can identify the youths. Both the fire brigade and police have crime numbers for the incident and will be following any leads.
